After the first debate where Harris gave Biden a major spanking, we were all waiting for part 2. And for others to try the same thing, to climb out of obscurity by taking on Biden, or maybe Harris.
We ended up with a pretty uninteresting night. It was like a group of fighters cautiously circling each other, but rarely stepping forward to throw a hard punch. And they all looked less for it.
Biden met the admittedly low expectations for him - defended himself and pushed back with some good counter-points. But then ended it by making everyone question if he's still mentally all there by giving text instructions as a website.
Harris took a couple of hard hits, from Gabbard as well as Biden. As she entered with unfair expectations that she would be the one landing a couple of body blows, this meant the evening was less than expected. But only a little.
Booker & Castro trying, but they just can't get more traction. How they present just doesn't resonate with that many.
And Yang had a good night - he wasn't awful like he was in the first debate (talk about a low bar). He is starting to look like he legitimately belongs in the second third tier with Booker, Castro, etc.
And they all were lucky they didn't go up against the Warren/Sanders juggernaut that likely would have made them all look secondary in comparison.
