Sierra Club Endorses Boulder City Council Candidates
Slate of candidates offers exceptional knowledge and experience in environmental and civic leadership
Boulder, CO—The Sierra Club is pleased to announce its endorsement of five candidates for the Boulder City Council. The endorsed candidates are:
Macon Cowles
Matt Appelbaum
Tim Plass
Jyotsna Raj
Suzy Ageton
These candidates offer the City of Boulder exceptional knowledge and experience in environmental and civic leadership. All of the candidates have demonstrated strong support for the City’s Climate Action Plan and its implementation through the Carbon Tax. They also all share in the Sierra Club’s goals of moving closer to Zero Waste, maintaining and enhancing our Open Space and Mountain Park properties, and improving alternative transit options both within and outside our city limits.
Three of the endorsed candidates—Cowles, Appelbaum, and Ageton—bring skill, competence, and knowledge cultivated from years of experience in Boulder civic engagement. The other two candidates—Plass and Raj—have also been active in Boulder civic affairs for many years and will bring intelligence and fresh ideas to Council. The Sierra Club believes that this mix of experience, talent, and fresh perspective is an ideal balance for a new Council.
