With Crystal out of the running, the race now appears to be between Matt Applebaum and Ken Wilson. Both are thoughtful intelligent people. Both of them have a clear grasp of the issues facing Boulder. Both will do a decent job of managing the egos on the council (the main job of the mayor). With Matt the meetings will be a bit shorter, but at the cost of being more brusque.
And while it should be a given, personal integrity was clearly an issue in this race. While both Matt & Ken are human and therefore imperfect (hate to break it to you guys), neither has ever had a whiff of impropriety about them. Both meet the very high bar we should set for all political candidates.
I think either will make a great mayor. And without a time machine, I'm not even sure which will do a better job. So council-members, you need to decide which one will do a better job of running your meetings.
As to the people upset that Matt resigned
428 (see below) months after first running - trust me no one goes through the meat-grinder of running for office to then resign. Unless you have any specific proof, any at all, give it a rest.
