Ok, someone who calls himself Real Liberal Boulder has started a blog devoted to me (interesting that I awaken such ardor in someone). I am not going to argue opinion here but I would like to correct a couple of things s/he has factually wrong.
- My name is spelled Thielen, not Thielin. It's right there in the url to this page - www.davidthielen.info.
- I have met 19 of the candidates in person. I met 5 of them in person well before the election started.
- I am a strong advocate of appropriate market regulation, including actions to reduce our carbon output - see this post on taxing carbon.
- I am a strong supporter of helping Hispanic, African-Americans, the poor, etc. get a true equal opportunity. I was a member of MEAC for 3 years and I also invite you to see this post on affirmative action.
- I am a strong supporter of Hillary (although I will support Gore if he jumps in) - please see this post.
- I am not a Libertarian (a good friend of mine, who is a Libertarian, is having a heart attack over the thought that anyone would even call me that) - please see this post.
- I'm not a newcomer to Boulder. I graduated from C.U. in 1981 and returned back here 12 years ago.
- I do have a full-time job.
- I do know who Professor Bartlett is, he was my freshman Physics professor (my majors were Physics and Mathematics). Superb teacher.
- I am undecided on if we should have a conference center. I do think that if we have it, it should be in a sensible location.
I'm not going to get into discussing difference of opinion because s/he seems to already know the only correct stance on every issue. But I wanted to correct the items s/he has that are factually incorrect.
With that said, welcome Real Liberal Boulder to blogging about the council race. The more people we have blogging, the more people will pay attention to the race because each blogger reaches some people that the others don't. I added a link to your Big Line from mine to help people find your take on the odds.
