Let's dive right in, here's the email of DBI's endorsement decision in the election:
Dear Council Candidates,
Thank you for the time and effort you have put into the City Council race this year. We appreciate the spirit of public service that motivates you. On behalf of the Board of Directors of Downtown Boulder, Inc., I wanted to let you know that DBI has decided not to endorse any candidates for the upcoming election. The number of qualified candidates is large and diverse and the lack of a specific “downtown” issue made it difficult for the board to settle upon a slate.
I assure you that many of our members really appreciate the opportunity to visit with you at the “meet and greet” forum in September and that as individuals, you impressed a number of our members. I am happy to talk about this with any of you, or to provide any information about the downtown Boulder community. Please feel free to call me. We wish you all the best in the upcoming election and look forward to working with those of you who earn positions on the City Council.
Regards,
Jane
After the raw discrimination shown by all the environmental interest groups, it is so gratifying to see a group that could have easily endorsed the candidates that they are tightly connected to (and there are several) and instead taking an evenhanded and fair approach.
DBI has earned the thanks of every voter in Boulder for doing the right thing. I am very impressed. And maybe, just maybe, they will set an example for the remaining groups that will either fairly evaluate all candidates or decline to make an endorsement.
As to those of you that did clearly discriminate in your endorsements - be ashamed by this example.
