The road to Hollywood goes through Windward
Want a contract in Hollywood...
Back in August we commissioned this film - Cubicle War. I approached Barats and Bereta because of their Mother's Day film. I liked the film and did this half just to get some money to a team creating very creative films and half because it might reflect well on Windward.
And the clip was a hit. I don't know if it sold any copies of Windward Reports but people loved it. And some of those people who loved it work in Hollywood...
So fast forward 2 months and Barats and Bereta are now represented by CAA (and UA also tried to get them) and they have a deal with NBC. And what got people's interest and got them these deals was the Cubicle War video.
I think this is great. These guys are talented and deserve this. I cannot think of a better result for this video. (Maybe if we sold a bunch of copies of Windward Reports too...) So we are definitely going to continue supporting videos.
Now, I'm not saying the only route to Hollywood is by doing a video for Windward. After all George Lucas turned us down and still appears to have a good shot at success there. But it is a route.
So for all of you filmmakers out there, please consider entering our film contest. If you win I can't promise a Hollywood contract - but so far we're hitting 100%. And I think the contest winner will get noticed.
