For those who read my blog I think it's pretty clear I'm a liberal. I don't march in lockstep with every left-wing idea and I definitely tend moderate. But I am liberal (and a registered Democrat for 33 years).
So I posted a copy of this entry on MyDD (and granted, I should have removed the request for support - I have been working on my mom's campaign with very little sleep for 4 days and just copied it up quickly).
And what happened in about 8 hours? That diary entry was deleted, every previous diary entry was deleted, and every comment I have ever posted has been deleted. (Which makes for weird reading for example in this diary where the first comment seen is actually a reply to a comment I made.
Now I agree that whoever owns the blog has the right to decide who can and cannot post. But I do think this is a crappy way to do it. And it's sort of shades of 1984 the way they removed not just the diary they didn't like, but every other diary entry and all comments I posted. And did so with no email to me telling me they did it.
So notice to any liberals out there who choose to support your mother and your mother is a Republican. Don't do it publicly or MyDD will disappear you. And that is too bad - I wish they had not done this. It surprised me and it saddens me. I expect a willingness to listen to other viewpoints on the left as that is a central tenant of liberalism in my book.
With that said, I always like DailyKOS better (I do still like MyDD). And when I posted the same thing there, the responses were overwhelmingly professional although also almost 100% in disagreement with me. And the entry is still there.
Kudos to DailyKOS which clearly follows Jefferson's maxim - "I disagree with you but I will fight to the death your right to say it."
